Norman Taylor & Associates Advise the State on Standards for Lemon Law Jury Instructions

As the acknowledged experts in the area of Lemon Law, Norman Taylor & Associates was recently asked to provide assistance to the Judicial Council Task Force on Jury Instructions.
Jury instructions have remained virtually unchanged since the 1930’s until recently. The pattern civil instructions, (currently known as BAJI, Book of Approved Jury Instructions) are being extensively revised.
Associate Justice James D. Ward of the 4th District Court of Appeal as Co-Chair of the Task Force on Jury Instructions, requested the assistance of Norman Taylor of Norman Taylor & Associates to assist the Judicial Council of California’s Task Force on Jury Instructions in drafting form instructions for the Song-Beverly Warranty Act – commonly known as, “The Lemon Law”. This is not the first time Norman Taylor has been asked to act in his capacity as an opinion leader in the area of Warranty Law.
‘Mr. Taylor’s book, “Lemon Law a Manual for Consumers” is a common desk reference for attorneys and savvy consumers alike’.
This book is also in the process of revision, as there has been considerable change in the area of Lemon Law since 1991.
In the 1930’s the Los Angeles Superior Court drafted pattern civil instructions that came to be known as BAJI (Book of Approved Jury Instructions). This book of instructions became the standard throughout California. Many things have changed in seventy years, not the least of which is the literacy level of the average jury. Add to this the complexities of modern warranty law and there is a great deal more for the juror to grasp.
