GMC Cadillacs: Fuel Injector Replacement Errors
GM noticed some cases of an incorrect fuel injector being installed when the cars came in for repairs. After some customers complained about issues with the way their car ran and came to the service department with their check engine lights on, GM identified this as the source of the problem.
This issue is mainly the fault of the mechanic replacing a fuel injector, as they didn’t choose the correct part.

GM Fuel Injector Engine Wiring Harness Defect
There’s a widespread issue with the fuel injector wiring harness in certain GM vehicles. When this part malfunctions, the vehicle owner might have problems starting the car, driving the car, shifting between gears, and could even stall out.
What’s the Problem With GM’s Fuel Injector Wiring Harness?
When the car is being driven, the engine rocks back and forth in its mounts. This causes the wiring harness to come into contact with a bracket, leading to chafing and malfunctions.
When the wiring that plugs into the fuel injectors chafes, becomes deteriorated, or breaks entirely, it affects how much fuel is sent to the engine. When a car’s engine doesn’t receive enough fuel, it can’t run properly.
Signs of Fuel Injector Defects in GM Vehicles
A few signs of fuel injector wire harness chafing include:
- Service Engine Soon (SES) light
- Check Engine light (AKA Malfunction Indicator Light, or MIL)
- The car doesn’t start
- The car doesn’t crank
- The engine runs rough
- The engine isn’t getting enough power
- Erratic speedometer operation
- The car stalls
- Misfires

- Electrical issues, such as blown fuses
Customers might notice this issue while driving normally, shifting between drive and reverse, accelerating, or breaking.
