The Issue: Fuel Pump Failure
The reason for the recall is the potential failure of the fuel pumps installed in these vehicles. When the fuel pump fails, it can lead to various problems, including noise and vibration from the engine, warning lights on the dashboard, and engine stalling.
If the engine stalls while the car is in motion, it increases the risk of accidents and potential injuries.
Toyota’s Response: Free Replacements and More
Toyota has taken action to address the issue and ensure the safety of its customers.
Dealerships offer free replacements of the faulty fuel pumps for the affected models. If you own or lease one of the recalled vehicles, you can contact Toyota customer service or your local dealership to schedule an appointment for replacement.
Furthermore, Toyota has extended the warranties for the fuel pumps to 15 years of 150,000 miles, providing additional peace of mind for owners and lessees. As part of the settlement, Toyota also offers complimentary loaner vehicles and free towing options for repairs.
